An astute reader wrote me this morning noting Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) will reimburse some providers for copying medical records, which would contradict a statement in my recent story on copy costs.

CMS approved services rendered by clinical social workers to be reviewed by the Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Connolly Healthcare. We learned of this new target this morning, but note it only impacts clinical social workers providing services in the inpatient setting in Florida.

The New York Times reports members of Congress are anxiously waiting for President Barack Obama to appoint a CMS administrator. We previously noted in June that Obama, when compared to his predecessors, was late with the appointment.

Florida providers will now be subject to five, CMS-approved Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) issues, Connolly Healthcare says. Connolly previously announced seven targets aimed at providers in South Carolina, five of which now apply to Florida.
