Part B News is hosting an emergency audio conference on the end of consultation billing for your Medicare patients starting Jan. 1. The audio conference is this Thursday (for more information click here). Your practice must stop billing consult codes on Medicare claims for services rendered on Jan. 1 and beyond. 

In the 2010 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, CMS says they'll develop a new, two-digit modifier to identify the admitting physician in a hospital. CMS has yet to deliver the modifier to you and your peers, but there's a fair amount of speculation that it will be AI.  

You must use a new G-code to report you've electronically prescribed drugs for a Medicare patient in 2010. You'll forfeit incentive bonuses -- amounting to roughly $1,500 per provider -- if you continue to report old codes for e-prescribing.
