New G-code introduced for e-prescribing in 2010

You must use a new G-code to report you've electronically prescribed drugs for a Medicare patient in 2010. You'll forfeit incentive bonuses -- amounting to roughly $1,500 per provider -- if you continue to report old codes for e-prescribing.

Region B RAC expands the scope of 3 targets - Update

I can always tell when someone is a doctor - all I do is make sure they're wearing a white lab coat and a stethoscope. Senate Democrats, including Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) at right, surrounded themselves with white-coated, stethoscope-wearing persons when unveiling the merged Senate health reform bill Nov. 19. That bill has now advanced, as predicted.

The Senate will vote on whether or not it'll take up the latest version of the health reform bill, which Senate Democrats recently finished tweaking. In plain English, the Senate vote this weekend isn't about whether to pass the bill or not, it's to decide whether to even consider it for debate.

House SGR bill passes; Senate bill calls for temporary fix

The House approved a bill to kill Medicare's Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula, HR 3961, by a 243-183 vote. The main question now is what's next? It's headed to the Senate, where a similar SGR bill failed get enough votes last month. The Senate might not act on the bill and just let it die.
