With the COVID-19 public health emergency continuing to dominate the health care conversation, it may be easy to forget other important news. But CMS put out a reminder this week about a key change coming up soon -- the vast reworking of E/M office visit coding and documentation.
 
 
Providers have two new CPT codes to report for blood tests to check for the presence of COVID-19 antibodies. The codes, which allow reporting of one-step and two-step testing methods, took effect April 10, according to an AMA update.
 
 
Be ready to provide employees with a note that allows them to travel during a shelter-in-place order, consider limits to non-essential services and find out how to fast-track telehealth services during the current pandemic. These are just three snippets of advice in the batch of resources for private practices that the American Medical Association (AMA) released today.
 
 
Practices interested in how to code telehealth visits and encounters involving COVID-19 -- in light of recent waivers and policy changes -- can review 11 new coding scenarios released March 25 by the AMA.
 

Add another code to your coronavirus testing list. In addition to two available HCPCS codes, you're now eligible to report a new CPT code for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) testing claims.
