You can complement your COVID-19 coding arsenal with two new additions -- testing code 86413 and extra services code 99072 -- as the AMA continues to build out its CPT code set in response to the ongoing public health emergency (PHE).
 
 
Practices may have at least five new COVID-related diagnosis codes to use starting in January 2021, according to updates announced today. The new codes would be in addition to the ICD-10-CM code and guideline changes set to take effect Oct. 1 this year.
 
Take a first look at the CPT codes you’ll report next year for a variety of services, including the prolonged service E/M code that you can tack onto time-based E/M office visits. All told, you’ll find 207 new codes, 48 revisions and 52 deletions, according to a 2021 CPT data file released Sept. 1.
On September 3 CMS launched a new interface that combines its eight "Compare" tools for helping patients find appropriate medical care and facilities online.
