The Senate Finance Committee will likely approve a $829 billion health care reform plan sometime today. Senators began making their final remarks and final questions at about 10:15 a.m. Eventually, votes are expected to fall along party lines -- 13 Democrats voting yes and 10 Republicans voting no.

The Senate Finance Committee voted 14-9 to move a health care reform bill forward on Tuesday. The vote fell mostly along party lines, but Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) joined Democrats in voting yes.

Malpractice reform could make a big dent in the cost of health care reform, according to a new report by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Adding a slew of new restrictions on medical malpractice lawsuits could save up to $54 billion over the next 10 years, the CBO said in seven-page letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).
