Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) has offered an amendment to the reconciliation package for the new health care reform law that would eliminate the sustainable growth rate (SGR) budget mechanism responsible for the 21% cut to Medicare payments.

It's a done deal. Health care reform measures in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) are now the law of the land.

Major health care reforms in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and a sidecar of related amendments passed the House of Representatives late Sunday night. Arguably, this is the biggest health reform bill to come out of Congress since Medicare legislation was enacted more than 40 years ago.

The AMA announced its support for the Democratic health care reform bill on March 19. The House of Representatives is set to vote on legislation this weekend.

My opinion of the health care reform efforts in Washington changes almost everyday. One day I'll read an analysis written by a conservative writer and hope legislation is defeated. Then I'll come across an article by a liberal writer and think differently.
