Providers who use eClinicalWorks and thought something was a bit off about the electronic health record's (EHR's) performance may feel vindicated by this news: The EHR vendor will pay $155 million and enter a corporate integrity agreement to settle a number of allegations, including that for several years it had lied about the platform’s capabilities so it could receive meaningful use certification.
The deadline for Medicare providers to make their last attestation for meaningful use before the program goes away has been moved back from Feb. 28 to March 13 at 11:59 pm Pacific time, or 3:00 am March 14 Eastern time.
The head of CMS promised a final rule by Nov. 1 for the merit-based incentive payment system (MIPS) and said it would allow providers to "pick their pace" of compliance if they so choose.

In a provider call on Aug. 25, CMS reminded providers of their reporting responsibilities in the final year of meaningful use – including a short reporting window for first-time attesters.

You may be able to forget the full-year reporting requirement for meaningful use this year -- the year-long reporting mandate will be out the window if a proposed rule issued July 6 become final.
