The law raises the practice work geographic practice cost index (GPCI) to 1.000 in the 52 localities, which will in turn lift the locality-adjusted conversion factor for anesthesia services, and the increase will be retroactive to Jan. 1.

Based on what we're hearing, poor prep describes the efforts of some private payers and Medicare administrative contractors (MACs) to get ready for the new anesthesia codes for gastroendoscopy services (00731, 00732, 00811, 00812 and 00813).
