Senate Finance Committee calls for 0.5% bump in 2010

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and his "Gang of Six" senators propose to replace the 21.5% cut to Medicare payments in 2010 with positive 0.5% update, according to an outline of the long-awaited Senate Finance Committee health reform bill.

The 0.5% update equals the increase you received in 2008 (this year, payments rose 1.1%).

We'll have more on this and what else is in the outline in the Sept. 14 edition of Part B News, but it's worth noting the proposed Senate increase is half as much as what's proposed in the House health reform bill. President Barack Obama is also expected to address Congress on Wednesday, when he will highlight areas where Republicans and Democrats agree on health care reform.
