Poll: Majority of Americans say no reform is the best option

Support for health care reform is slipping, a recent Rasmussen poll finds. Of all the reform bills being considered in Congress, 54% of Americans say they prefer the status quo.

"This does not mean that most voters are opposed to health care reform," Rasmussen reports. "But it does highlight the level of concern about the specific proposals that Congressional Democrats have approved in a series of Committees. To this point, there has been no Republican support for the legislative effort although the Senate Finance Committee is still attempting to seek a bi-partisan solution."

For reformers, the most troubling news is the lack of support from independents (those not affiliated with Democratic or Republican parties). Only one-third of independents support the current legislation, while two-thirds are against it.
