ABC News reports Democratic leaders in Congress are preparing for a "Plan B" in the event health care reform negotiations further breakdown among Democrats in the House and a bipartisan group of six Senate Finance Committee members.
ABC News writes:
"You folks keep looking for the news and there ain't no news," said Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, [Sen. Max] Baucus's [D-Mont.] primary Republican counterpart.
This is a big deal. When Congress missed President Obama's August deadline for passing bills out of the House and Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed to at least get the bill out of the Finance Committee to set up a Senate vote in early September.
Not going to happen.
We've yet to read specific plans on for a "Plan B," but there are several options available to lawmakers for consideration:
Update: Several news agencies are reporting liberal and conservative Democrats have struck a compromise to move health reform forward in the House. The House's Energy and Commerce Committee could begin review of the latest health reform House bill next week.
