Physician Compare - 2016 data will reflect all reporting methods

More providers will appear on Medicare's Physician Compare site at the end of the year, so keep an eye out for a notice asking you to review the information CMS intends to publish for you.

Physician Compare will expand to include measures reported by all Physician Quality Reporting System methods, including claims-based, registry and qualified clinical data registry reporting. The information posted will be based on the group or individual provider's 2015 quality reporting efforts, a spokesperson for the program said during today's physician compare public reporting information session.

There are two more public sessions this week if you want to sign up and find out more.

One thing that won’t change – Physician Compare will publish information for a subset of measures that have been deemed suitable for public reporting. They must be statistically accurate, comparable, valid, reliable and most importantly, relevant to patients. The program also excludes measures that are reported for fewer than 20 patients.
