But by adding group appointments to your schedule, you can get your bottom line singing and improve the health of high-utilizing and chronic-care patients. Group visits allow practices to schedule more patient visits while allowing patients greater access to and time with the physicians.

Ask an employee who works at your practice what he or she thinks of his or her job and you'll probably get a positive yet perhaps insincere response. But if you ask that same employee for feedback after he or she has left the job, you may unearth a wealth of information about your practice, staff, and management. That's where exit interviews come in.

The American Medical Association (AMA) deleted eight consultation codes from its Current Procedural Terminology 2006 guide, effective January 1. To ensure that your practice is fully reimbursed for the work your physicians perform, your physicians and coding staff must know these deletions as well as the codes they should use instead.

Paper tax returns might be on their way to becoming as outdated as the eight-track. Last year, for the first time, more than half of all individual income-tax returns were filed electronically, according to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). If you were not one of the 68 million individuals who e-filed, it may be time to make the switch.
