China is on its way to competing with the United States in one of its strongest markets. But we may just be willing to relinquish this one.

The U.S. is No. 1 in the use of Holter monitoring systems – a device used in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.

But the sale and use of the heart monitoring devices is expected to rise in China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore, according to recent market research by Global Industry Analysts Inc. The prediction correlates with a concern for cardiovascular diseases and related mortalities in those areas and a rise in demand for preventive care.

“The massive untapped potential offered especially in underserved remote rural areas in China and India, is forecast to drive growth in the market to the tune of 7.6% over the analysis period,” according to a press release posted on the Digital Journal website.

In the U.S., physician clinics are expected to drive future growth as well as technological advancements, hybrid systems and even disposable monitoring devices.
