About 23% of physician practices with installed EHR systems are so frustrated with the systems that they are thinking about scrapping the decision and starting over, according to a report in Modern Medicine.

The findings speak to the inherent risk and fears practices have when shopping for EHR systems, the cost of which can easily stretch into the six figures. It’s an awfully large investment to get wrong. The highest rates of discontent came from nephrologists, family practice, general practice and pediatrics.

Practices in the survey said their EHR must-haves included mobile device adoption, health exchange support and good interfaces with lab, pharmacy, radiology and medical billing.
