No movement on Medicare pay fix in Senate

by CHARLES FIEGL on Mar 2, 2010

There's still no Medicare doc fix.

Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) continues to object to allowing an extenders bill to move forward under unanimous consent. Democrats aren't the only ones who are urging the bill's approval. A member of Bunning's party, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), requested the measure pass this morning, but the senator from Kentucky raised an objection.

The extenders bill would delay the 21% cut to Medicare payments until March 28. CMS is holding claims for 10 business days so the agency can avoid processing claims at the reduced rate, thus buying Congress time to pass the temporary patch.

The way things are going, Congress might need a little more time.
