CMS adjusts conversion factor up slightly to $36.0846

The two-month pay fix to the 2010 conversion factor was supposed to keep the conversion factor at the 2009 rate of $36.0666. But you'll be pleasantly surprised to learn CMS has adjusted the conversion factor up slightly to $36.0846 for 2010.

It's nearly a difference of 2 cents, or 0.05%, but I'm sure you'll take it. The change reflects technical corrections to malpractice relative value units (RVUs) and previously announced changes to RVUs.

Keep in mind that the increase, like the two-month pay fix, is temporary. Medicare reimbursements are set to decrease by some 21% on March 1 unless federal lawmakers take action.
