NYT: No CMS administrator baffles Congress

by CHARLES FIEGL on Aug 18, 2009

The New York Times reports members of Congress are anxiously waiting for President Barack Obama to appoint a CMS administrator. We previously noted in June that Obama, when compared to his predecessors, was late with the appointment.

According to The Washington Post, Obama has nominated seven people to various senior-level positions in HHS (six have been confirmed). There are still six openings, including CMS administrator.

Obama is said to be looking for someone with both clinical and administrative experience, the Times said.
