by CHARLES FIEGL on May 7, 2009

You'll have 144 new ICD-9 diagnosis codes to use starting Oct. 1, according to a proposed federal rule. CMS also released 170 new E Codes for external causes of injury set for implementation Oct. 1.

Part B News has assembled a list of all the new codes, plus 16 invalid and 43 revised codes that will take effect for the Medicare program on Oct. 1, according to the proposed changes to the Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems for Fiscal Year 2010 Rates.

Subscribers can download the list from our Hot Documents Library by clicking here and selecting "Your May 11 2009 PBN Extra." The library contains more customizable tools and letters that you can use to lower denial rates and increase reimbursements at your practice.

Use the list of new codes to start planning how your practice will implement these changes Oct. 1.
