Three more days! CMS extends MIPS reporting deadline from March 31 to April 3

by Roy Edroso on Mar 29, 2018

If you think you could get your MIPS reporting for 2017 done if only CMS would give you a few more days to do it, good news — they have.

The agency sent out a memo today to announce it is extending the data submission deadline for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) from March 31 to April 3 at — note well — 8 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

This applies to reporting that would be done via the Quality Payment Program (QPP) reporting portal at qpp.cms.gov website, as was described in a January Part B News story. (CMS has instructions for using the portal here.)

This does not appear to affect eligible clinicians who elected to report via the alternative to MIPS, Advanced Alternative Payment Models (Advanced APMs), nor to those who are reporting via registries, qualified clinical data registries, EHR, or Web Interface — though CMS tells Web Interface reporters that if they missed their deadline, which was March 16, “it’s not too late to submit your data through another mechanism.”
