5 steps to speed the ICD-10 update process

Use this ICD-10-CM conversion table to get ready for Oct. 1. The Excel file contains the new diagnosis codes, the date they went into effect and the former code or codes. Using the file will make quick work of such tasks as educating staff and replacing codes on your superbills. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Centers for Disease Control’s ICD-10-CM page and select Conversion table FY2018.

  2. Download and save the Excel file ICD-10-CM conversion table FY 2018.

  3. Select the cell for Effective October 1, and open the filter function.

  4. Select 2017.

  5. Click OK.

The codes that go into effect Oct. 1 will be in the left-hand column. The deleted codes are in the far right column.
