Meaningful use attestation deadline now March 13

by Roy Edroso on Feb 6, 2017
The deadline for Medicare providers to make their last attestation for meaningful use before the program goes away has been moved back from Feb. 28 to March 13 at 11:59 pm Pacific time, or 3:00 am March 14 Eastern time.

The deadline shift was announced in an email Feb. 6.

The EHR incentive meaningful use program, along with other quality reporting programs, has been replaced this year for virtually all Medicare eligible providers (EPs) by the new Quality Payment Program (QPP). But providers who were in the meaningful use program owe CMS attestation for 2016 via the registration and attestation portal.

The deadline for hardship exceptions has passed, so EPs need to get their attestations in or risk a negative payment adjustment. (Part B News subscribers can find some useful advice on that here.)

Medicaid meaningful use program participants are not affected, and must comply with their state program’s rules.
