SGR repeal triggered 14-day claims hold

by Julia Kyles, CPC-A on Dec 30, 2015
The SGR is gone, but those pesky claims holds that have heralded the start of each year are still around. Medicare administrative contractors have pulled down their 2016 physician schedules and will hold claims for services performed on or after Jan. 1 for 14 days. Why? The SGR was repealed, CMS says.

Confused? So were we, until CMS explained that part of the SGR update process included a number of corrections. No SGR update, no corrections. The agency hopes to have the corrections completed before the hold expires. For the latest news on the hold watch the Part B News blog and @PartBNews on Twitter.
