Cardio claims with modifiers LC, LD, RC incorrectly rejected

Two Medicare administrative contractors (MACs) have reported incorrect rejections of claims with cardiac codes 92920-92944 and modifiers LC (left circumflex coronary artery), LD (left anterior descending coronary artery) and RC (right coronary artery).

 

Providers don’t need to take action, according to Palmetto GBA and First Coast Service Options, which posted the problem on their websites. The MACs will make adjustments without providers resubmitting claims.

 

Palmetto GBA – which has two Part B jurisdictions covering California, Hawaii, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia – updated its system Feb. 11 so future claims will pay accurately, the MAC’s website states.

 

First Coast Service Options – which serves Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands – states on its website that the claims-processing issue was corrected Jan. 30.
