Check out your providers’ PTANs and ID reports on PECOS online

by Ben Penn on Oct 12, 2012

You may now view providers’ Personal Transaction Account Numbers (PTANs) and Medicare ID reports on the Provider Enrollment Chain Ownership System (PECOS) online, the latest CMS upgrade that eases the electronic enrollment process (9/5/12, 8/24/12, 7/9/12, 3/5/12).

“Most practices have no record of what their PTANs are,” says David Zetter, an enrollment guru and consultant with Zetter Healthcare Management Consultants, Mechanicsburg, Pa. Now you can view and see what your PTAN is attached to.

A Medicare provider is issued a different PTAN for each business entity he or she works for, and it can be tough to track for physicians involved with multiple practices.

Zetter provided Part B News with the following screenshots that show you how to access this information on the PECOS My Enrollments page. After you click, “view Medicare ID report” on the first screenshot, you’ll be taken to a page that will resemble the second screenshot.
