Here at DecisionHealth, one of the high points of our year is the annual release of the new CPT Manual. One trend we like to track is the CPT’s regular tweaks of codes in the Nervous System section of the CPT Manual. So when we got the electronic version of the 2014 manual we flipped right to that section.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t find anyone to bet the AMA would not make changes in that section, because we would have won big. In 2014 you’ll use eight new chemodenervation codes that replace two deleted codes (64613 and 64614, to be exact). Readers of the Anesthesia & Pain Coder’s Pink Sheet know there were changes in that code set last year and can expect an article on these and other changes in an upcoming issue.
Attendees of the 2013 Pain Management Billing, Coding & Compliance Summit will hear Judi Blaszczyk, RN, CPC, ACS-PM speak about these and other changes on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
