Boston Scientific will be hitting the U.S market with their own take on some common cardiology tools for interventional and electrophysiology (EP) procedures.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved clearance for the company’s new
IVUS (intravascular ultrasound) catheter and a
3D mapping and navigation system for catheter ablations.
OptiCross Coronary Imaging Catheter, the new IVUS catheter – commonly used in percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) as an add-on procedure to both assess arterial lesions and treatment – is said to provide higher-resolution imaging and better capabilities for use in complex coronary cases.
The mapping system – commonly used as an add-on service during ablations for heart arrhythmias – is automated which means it creates a map for the physician. With current systems, the physician has to manually create the maps.
