Remind your uninsured patients that they need to start looking for health insurance or they could face a penalty when the individual mandate goes into effect Jan. 1.
A new
Gallup survey shows 43% of uninsured Americans didn’t know about the individual mandate, which requires them to have insurance or pay a penalty, according to
CBS News.
To help your patients know whether they will face a penalty,
check out this chart from the Kaiser Family Foundation. It shows that in 2014, the penalty could be $95 per adult and $47.50 per child, up to $285 for a family, or 1% of the family income, whichever is greater.
