Part B News reader points out another way to encourage patients to hand over their copays and deductibles at the time of service.
Check your state laws, suggests Jeff Howard of Ray Howard & Associates in Jacksonville, Fla. In his state,
Chapter 69O-153 of the Florida administrative code requires a provider to collect the copay or deductible or notify the insurance company. If the provider doesn’t, it could be considered a false claim.
Howard says he’s posted that regulation in the practice offices to reinforce the collection policy.

May 20 Part B News story to encourage patient and physician buy-in for policies to ensure copays at the time of service.
