Attention QPs: CMS wants to know where to send your $$$

by Laura Evans, CPC on Dec 27, 2019
If you are one of the qualifying APM participants (QPs) who earned a lump sum incentive payment for your hard work for an advanced alternative payment model (APM) in 2017, congratulations!

CMS started sending out payments to QPs, in the amount of 5% of their covered professional fees, back in September, but for certain participants, the agency can’t find current bank account information and would like to hear from you.

The agency put a call out in a Federal Register filing issued the day after Christmas, linking to a list of QPs and giving instructions for how to contact CMS about the unclaimed payments.

The original regulatory deadline for CMS to send the QP incentive payments was Dec. 31, 2019, but in a burst of year-end goodwill, the agency is extending the deadline to Feb. 28, 2020.

“We believe it is necessary and appropriate to afford the identified QPs the opportunity to provide us with their current banking information and receive their CY 2019 APM Incentive Payments,” the agency states in the Federal Register payment advisory.
QPs who qualified for the lump sum but haven’t received it should check for their name on CMS’s list and, if found, follow the instructions to submit the correct bank account info.
